GIVE LOCAL

There has been a trend emerging over the past few years to buy local. Farm to Table restaurants are popping up all over the country, serving local customers produce and meat sourced from local farmers. Unfortunately, not all buy local campaigns have been as well received as the farm to table restaurant. Small mom and pop retailers have not been as lucky; they fight every day to compete with the likes of Walmart and Amazon.com.

Local nonprofits are no different than a lot of these smaller mom and pop retailers. Looking back to the recent tragic events of Hurricane Harvey and Irma, a lot of the organizations with boots on the ground were the local nonprofits and religious organizations who serve those communities 365 days a year.

There are larger nonprofits doing a lot of work in these communities as well, but they do not get the celebrity endorsements or hold the multi-million-dollar fundraising events. They survive primarily by word of mouth and community outreach.

One way One Donation is helping to support local nonprofits is by assisting local nonprofits in the setup of payroll deduction donations with the employers in the community that already support the nonprofit.

Did you know that 86% of millennials believe their employer should be socially and environmentally responsible?

One Donation recently partnered with the Clemmons Food Pantry of Clemmons, NC. The Clemmons Food Pantry provides supplemental groceries to residents of Forsyth County, NC who are in need. Established in 2004, The Pantry has extended its service to more than 175,000 people – serving more than 700 households each month and distributing over 320,000 pounds of food every year.

One Donation is helping local businesses that already support the Pantry to set up payroll deduction donations. Donations will flow from the employer to One Donation which in turn will provide the funds for the Clemmons Food Pantry.

This is just one example of how One Donation can help nonprofits, especially smaller nonprofits, extend their reach in the communities they serve.
