Employee Benefits - Today's Expectations

If you are an employer there are certain fundamental benefits that you offer to your employees. Conversely, if you are an employee, you expect to receive a lot of benefits from your employer.

The primary benefit that most likely comes to mind is health insurance. There is not any major employer that does not offer their employees health insurance. Many companies even offer several different levels of plans in order to best serve the diverse employee population.

Full time employees also expect to receive some combination of paid and sick time off. Every employee deserves time off to spend with their friends and family. And the sick time, well I have grown to appreciate that even more with two young kids in daycare!

Another benefit now offered is a 401k payroll deduction program. The employee selects a percentage or dollar amount to be deducted from their paycheck every pay period. Some employers even offer to match a percentage of the deduction to encourage employee participation.

All of these have become expectations, the core benefits that every employee expects from their employer. Unfortunately, the typical benefits package offered by employers these days leaves little room for separation from competitors. Companies these days are focusing a lot of company culture as the differentiator.

Enter One Donation. With One Donation employers can now offer a new benefit for their employees – Payroll Deduction Donations. Payroll deduction donations operate the same way as a 401K, funds are directly withdrawn from the employees paycheck each pay period and are sent to the designated organization which manages those funds.

One Donation works with employers to create a payroll donation campaign which best fits the organization. For local or regional employers, a selection of non-profits voted on by the employers will help to increase employee participation in both the selection process and contributions. For larger companies which serve a larger geographical footprint a more company culture driven campaign may work best.

By using One Donation, employers can also match donations and the resulting employee participation will spike. Not to mention the moral boost to your employees knowing that their employer is supporting the causes that they support.

If you are an employer and are interested in offering payroll deduction donations for your employees, consider letting One Donation help.
